 We tried to use those suction type sponge holders but they always seemed to get in the way when washing dishes and pots n pans in the sink...the suction holders would constantly un-suck and sponges always at the bottom of the sink - yuck. The saddle is the perfect solution to prolong the life of the sponge - keeps the sponges off the top of the sink (from view) and keeps them cleaner as they dry in the saddle. I am waiting for a larger size saddle to be added to the market - as this saddle seems to fit the small sponges. We have a metal sink and I have the clear - looks slick!
