Organizing TIP of the WEEK:

organizing your kids' homework area

Making sure your kids have a great organized space to do their homework will absolutely help them be successful at school.  If your kids are lucky enough to have a desk in their bedrooms then have them help you decide what kinds of ways they should set their study area up.  A rack with bins for each type of school supply is a great start.  Keeping items off of the desk helps give them more room for books and projects.  Using colors also helps them remember where different things go when it’s time to clean up.  Bins also help kids understand the concept behind having limits.  When the bins are full, your child doesn’t need any more.  Similarly, with smartly-labeled, colorful bins, things like scissors, tape, glue, pens, and pencils don’t go missing as easily!  When everything has a place, no time is wasted hunting for things – and no money is wasted buying duplicates of things you know you already have!
